Jeanette Gilks

For the last 40 years, I have been involved in making, teaching and assessing artwork.  I have taught and examined   fine art in secondary and tertiary institutions and have juried textile shows, video presentations and photography. In 1988 I founded Garret Artists, a drawing based workshop for advanced students and teachers. These classes are ongoing in Durban and my workshops have been held country wide.   I was a cofounder of Fibreworks in 1998, a group of South African fibre/textile artists who have exhibited nationally and abroad.  Some of my work features in public and private collections in South Africa and overseas.

I am presently teaching creative thinking skills and drawing  to students at Vega, Durban campus.
