First Thursday at The KZNSA Gallery – August

02 August 2018, 16h00

This First Thursday at The KZNSA Gallery we are celebrating Women's Month through women focussed discussions, pop-up art, two exhibitions in the galleries and of course our featured musician of the month.

All are welcome from 16h00 to attend our monthly LAB Talks. Come and hear from Kate Wells (exhibitor) and Paul Mikyla (Phansi Museum).

In our Main Gallery be informed and enlightened viewing ‘Re-stitching Culture: Indigenous Dolls of South Africa, Australia and Canada' and in our Mezzanine Gallery on exhibition you will find Markus Wörsdörfer’s ‘DriftArt’.

Not to be missed is a pop up exhibition in the Glass box and cafe stairs. Durban Girls' College and Crawford College La Lucia students will exhibit art focusing on womxn and engage audiences on topics of gender.

The Park Contemporary Gallery and the shop will be open to purchase some of the best in local art and craft.

At 17h30 we have the inimitable Portia Malunga once again. Enjoy her chilled vibes that we were lucky enough to experience at our May First Thursday. Expressed through personal mantras and melodic poetry over rare grooves, Portia is a unique local gem.

A live art installation incorporating an on-going body of work, entitled "Others", by photographic artist Jerome Stoffels Photography, and performative element by Lorin Sookool.

The bar and Arts Cafe will be open from 17h00 for drinks and delicious food that is pocket and vegetarian friendly.

*We look forward to having a great evening with you. Entrance is free and all are welcome.
