KZNSA and Imagination Factory present Creative Collab Durban 2015, powered by Design Indaba

The Creative Collab is an exhibition of work from leading KZN makers across a wide spectrum of disciplines including Ceramics, Furniture, Fashion, Jewellery, Photography, Product, Video and Visual Art.  Exhibitors include established names in the design industry like Xavier Clarisse, Zulu Beadwork Project, Koop Design, Astrid Dahl, Garth Walker and Sbonelo Tau Luthuli as well as up and coming creative talents like Sanele Cele (Tempracha clothing), ELPPAG, Deane Alcock and Nindya & Nikhil Tricam amongst others.

The KZNSA is excited to host the first such event in Kwa-Zulu Natal. The Creative Collab is inspired by the Design Indaba Expo which is held in Cape Town every year during the Design Indaba Festival.  By bringing together creators from all disciplines, the Creative Collab seeks to grow the creative economy within the province and expose the wider public to Durban’s massive creative talent.

The Collab also includes an exhibition of posters submitted by local creatives in response to the xenophobic violence of  recent weeks. The KZNSA in partnership with Design Indaba put out calls for responses to Christoff Niemann's original design (see http://www.designindaba.com/articles/creative-work/response-xenophobia) and the best entries have been selected for exhibition alongside Niemann's impactful piece.

Parallel to the expo is the very exciting We Are Africa exhibition (see http://www.designindaba.com/articles/design-indaba-news/africa-months-must-see-design-exhibition) now on in the Park Gallery. The exhibition brings together the work of designers and innovators from countries across the continent including Senegal, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Malawi, Kenya, Cameroon, Uganda and South Africa,  in a spectacular celebration of Africa Month. It provides a visual survey of emerging, established and unexpected talent in the fields of ceramics, fashion, jewellery, furniture, textiles, graphics, animation, architecture and industrial design. The work featured at the exhibition was selected and sourced by Design Indaba, through a call for entries put out to creative communities across the continent.
