Ceramics Southern Africa is a national association with branches in Cape Town, Durban, Gauteng and Namibia.  The KZN Branch has been holding showcase  regional exhibitions for over 43 years and one of its longest standing members is well known artist Carol Haywood Fell.

The Association is committed to furthering the development and appreciation of ceramics and hold workshops throughout the year where ceramics artists from across the country share their knowledge with members.

Many a fledgling artist has found that the association has encouraged and supported them to develop skills that have brought success.  Artists that have been/are members of the association and continued on to become successful artists in their own right include Carla da Cruz, Louise Jennings, Naomi Klingenberg, Carol Hayward Fell, Corri Hook, Garth Hoets (Fellow), Jo-Anne Kuter, Maggie Matthews, Lynette Morris-Hale,  Clive Sithole and well known owner of Zulu Lulu in the Midlands, Trayci Tompkins. These artists have continued to produce creative work year after year, while new signatures worth watching are Karuni Naidoo, Phumlani Nyawo, Frank Nthunya and Kyle Pierpoint.

The association honours its members by rewarding outstanding work at the regional showcase.  Although each member is automatically allowed one piece on show, more work by the same artist has to go through a selection process.  The selectors are experts in their field and this year the association is honoured to have Daryl Houghton, Naomi Klingenberg and Trayci Tompkins as judges. Prize money is awarded to the  best pieces on show in various categories.

The association also invites talented artists from other regions to exhibit as Invited Guest Artists. This year, Ralph Johnson of Cape Town will be featured, with his bowls showing the caliber of other ceramic artists in South Africa.

Members of the public interested in ceramics are welcome to join the association. Membership gives discounted attendance to at least 4 workshops a year, entry to the regional and biennial exhibitions as well as 4 magazines about South African ceramics each year.
