iMbumba Fiesta

03 February 2018

Glenwood's Bulwer Park will be buzzing this Saturday 03 February 2018 from 15h00 - 19h00 with live music, art, public performance and more at the Imbumba Fiesta.

Imbumba Fiesta comprises a free summer themed market, food stalls, info stands,  an open mic from 9am until 2pm, and a ticketed sun-downer concert from 3pm until 7pm – all with an underlying message of encouraging good neighbourliness, supporting underprivileged children and showcasing local artists and crafters.

The afternoon music line up boasts an eclectic mix of Durban musicians including Scelo Gowane:  Afro-soul and R&B artist, a self-taught producer, guitarist and composer; Sosha whose music crosses the boundaries of  kwaito / hip-hop / rap / dance and electronic; Thee Legacy:  a distinctly South African contemporary isicathamya acappella group who rose to stardom as a result of winning the inaugural Sing Off South Africa 2015 a cappella music competition; singer, songwriter and performer Holly Wasserfallwho has carved out a place for herself in the country’s flourishing Afro-house music scene becoming a fixture at major live events;  hip-hop / rap / kwaito star, Bullistic; Nina Mkhize:  a jazz trained vocalist and composer and two-time winner of the Old Mutual Jazz Encounters Awards from Durban whose repertoire includes original jazz and African music compositions and renditions of art songs standards; Sandile D.V. Sithole AKA J Sabali – local Skandihop / hip-hop artist, and The Name on the Drum: local alternative / indie rock outfit.

Included in the afternoon line-up will be the winner of the morning Open-Mic session who will open the concert.

The KZNSA Gallery will be open – inviting visitors to visit the gallery and shop, and also inviting visitors to enjoy their licensed restaurant and coveted coffee!  Also on offer will be chess sessions where you can learn to play. Singer Holly Wasserfall, a keen chess player herself, and the chess association will be in attendance to introduce visitors – especially children to the world of chess.

Entry to the day is free and all are welcome. The music concert takes place from 3pm until 7pm in Bulwer Park. Tickets (R80 for adults / children R20) are available at the gate or on the Facebook page using Zapper.
