Artist Talk with Josephine Grindrod

Date

15/04/2023

Join us at the KZNSA this Saturday for an artist talk and presentation with exhibiting artist, Josephine Grindrod. The artist will share insights into the layered and multifaceted conceptual and making processes that have informed the body of work now on view in the gallery, titled ‘A Faint Transport’.

Grindrod draws on art historical images of ‘The Deluge’ to explore the threat of climate-induced flooding to all forms of life. She combines these with the biblical myth of Noah’s Ark to think about where our hope might be put in ‘end-times’, considering the frail means of safe passage available to us within the chaos and fraughtness of contemporary life.

Grindrod’s title also references dreaming as the means whereby we are transported to more expansive realms – a necessary corrective to our overwhelmingly concrete world. Her body of work comprises paintings and collages on canvas and paper.

Entry is free and all are welcome!
