The KZNSA is excited to host an exhibition of works by the up and coming Amasosha Art Movement, a collective of fourteen emerging young artists working in and around Durban.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
This exhibition explores our spiritual thoughts in the context of a physical world that judges us. Our spiritual thoughts shape the ideas we have about life.

How do we break the barriers between our spiritual and physical realities?

Will our physical and social experiences impose on our spirituality?

At the same time, society is a reflection of us. The more we change the world inside us, the more the world outside us will change.

ABOUT THE COLLECTIVE
Amasosha is a Zulu word meaning ‘soldiers’ – people who have patience and courage, and who work hard in unison, fighting to the end. As such, the collective describes itself as a group of young artists, united to form a movement that encourages local artists to work together as a unit, growing together and helping each other develop technical and professional skills needed in the contemporary art world. The collective works toward a shared vision of shaping each other in terms of ideas, sharing skills in the construction of work and creating art that dialogues across different cultures and brings into focus often neglected stories of society.

The exhibition is accompanied by an extensive public programme of events – details to follow

A project of the KZNSA Social Art Programme, funded by the National Lotteries Commission
