There is no entrance fee however donations are asked for at the door.

This second screening bouquet will include:

• United in Anger: A History of ACT UP (USA 2012) – 93min
// A powerful and well made feature documentary about the development of ACT UP, a movement started by gay & lesbians in response to the sheer and audacious lack of US government help during the early years of the AIDS crisis. This movement not only gave the gay rights issue momentum, but the significant global response to HIV/AIDS can be directly attributed to the high profile work of these dedicated heroes. It's well worth watching, with a positive and uplifting message //

The DGLFF started in 2011 and the second Festival was held in May 2012. As part of the Festival’s community outreach and fundraising efforts, every fortnight a special bouquet of cinematic delight will be screened on the lawn at the Gallery (**inside the atrium on rainy days**), during Spring and early Summer.

From well-known LGBTI titles to films that are just pure joyous fun for all ages, the DGLFF will provide a safe environment for cinema lovers, members of the gay & lesbian community and folk who enjoy the frivolity and social atmosphere of pink events. Pink Cinema Fridays hope to add to the diverse tapestry that is Durban’s cultural scene, being close to great restaurants and open to all. Feature films, some short documentaries and short films will be blended to make for an evening of silver screen sophistication whilst patrons watch on their blankets under the stars.

Folk are welcome to bring picnic dinners whilst the Festival Bar will provide reasonably priced libations – please note that liquor may not be brought from outside onto the premises during Pink Cinema Fridays and as such, no persons under the age of 18 may enter the bar area during these events. Light catering will be provided for and patrons may also order in their food. Ample secure parking around the venue is available.

Screenings will start at 7:30pm and run on average 2 hours. The venue and Festival Bar will remain open thereafter for a time.
Pink Cinema Fridays will provide a welcome opening for the weekend for some, whilst others may find the relaxed al-fresco atmosphere a delightful alternative to staying at home watching TV!
