This highly acclaimed and exciting duo has been together for 13 years performing all over Southern Africa including South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland and beyond in Seychelles, Reunion and Zanzibar. Their shows are an intoxicating blend of Eastern and Middle Eastern styles with strong irrestistable rhythms and beats with spicy melodies all played on beautiful handmade traditional instruments.
Greg Hadjiyorki Georgiades plays the sarod, oud, bouzouki, oudtar and nylon string flamenco guitar together with Ashish on the tabla, darbuka and zarb.
Their performances have been a highlight at the many festivals that they have performed at including Oppikoppi, Cape Town International Jazz Festival, Grahamstown Festival, Potchefstroom National Arts Festival, Zanzibar International Film Festival, Lesotho Morija Festival, Windhoek National Arts Festival to mention a few.
They have also performed live and recorded with many South African and foreign artists such asMcCoy Mrubata, Madala Kunene, Steve Newman, Kesivan Naidoo, Saudiq Khan, Brigitte Menon and her group ‘Mukta’, Fethi Tabet of Algeria, Bob Brosman (USA) and many more.
They have released 3 acclaimed albums ‘Strings & Skins’, ‘Passages in Time’ and ‘In the Clouds’(this one with world renowned guitarist Steve Newman) and can also be heard on albums by Madala Kunene, Simphiwe Dana, Aquarian Quartet ‘World in a Guitar’, Tony Cox and even metal rock group Not My Dog award winning ‘Braaivibes’album amongst others.
