Three new exhibitions opened at the KZNSA last night. Two solo shows in the upstairs Galleries, and a large group show in the Main Gallery.

Three new exhibitions opened last night Tuesday 2 July.

 

The KZNSA Galleries were filled to capacity last night; the KZNSA Arts Café opened for the evening for the first time with a special menu providing for a unique a food meets art experience...guests provided the fashion!

 

Veteran KZN painter Jannie van Heerden presented ‘The Story of an African Farm’ in the Park Contemporary Gallery. Photographer Andrew McGibbon wowed viewers with his extraordinary and unconventional portraits of horses on the Mezzanine with ‘All the Wild Horses’. In the Main Gallery was the annual regional exhibition of the Ceramics Association of Southern Africa. This juried exhibition awarded substantial prizes in five categories, thank you to the judges, Maggie Mathews, Pascale Chandler and Hendrik Stroebel. Jenny Stretton, Curator of permanent collections at the Durban Art Gallery opened the ceramics exhibition and John Roome, Senior Lecture at the DUT introduced van Heerden’s new body of work.

Expressive - Lynette Morris – Hale 

Functional - Louise Jennings  

Student (In memory of Maggie Mikula) - Kyle Pierpoint 

Bowl - Isabel Lehmkuhl

 

Highly recommended certificates were presented to:

Sibonelo Luthuli, Lorrine de Richelieu, Naomi Klingenberg, Jacky MacLennan, and Jetteke de Vries.
