CALL FOR SCIENTISTS TO PARTICPATE IN A COVID-19 COMMUNITY AND PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT PROJECT Closing date: July 31st
- 20 July 2020
Join The Sub-Saharan African Network for TB/HIV Research Excellence (SANTHE) on a quest to combine art and science as we search for creative expressions from Africa’s youth on their impressions of COVID-19.
SANTHE is looking for scientists, with an interest and expertise in SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19, to participate in an exciting community and public engagement project. Scientists would be expected to take part in interactive discussions with artists to help them navigate their way through the current global COVID-19 infodemic, fake news and misinformation.
Through this initiative, SANTHE hopes the participating youths will gain a greater appreciation of the science surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, be better able to identify fake news and misinformation, and make more informed decisions for themselves. SANTHE hope their scientists will gain a greater appreciation in the insight that youths have of the pandemic.
This is an exclusively online project, that will require active participation in a workshop, as well as in a feedback sessions to the wider scientific community and an art exhibition Q&A session. Successful applicants can win up to $1000 cash and we also have limited funding available for those who get through the first phase and need help with buying art materials, data or photographing their final submissions.
*all scientists from SANTHE and affiliated programmes and institutions are eligible regardless of rank, nationality or age.
