This years’ theme, RENEW, celebrates fresh starts and new leases on life, with the focus on sustainable, sophisticated design practices. We are excited to showcase the very best of local artisanal product with feature collections from some of our KZNSA favourites, as well as introducing hot new designers on the rise in KZN.

‘After’, the 2022 Annual Members’ Exhibition will open in the Park Gallery – submissions are now open and close on Friday, 11 November so be sure to get your work in.

The Arts Cafe will serve canapes and launch a special BUZZART22 menu, available only for the festive season – you don’t want to miss out!

ALC RUNWAY INSTALLATION
BUZZART22 takes inspiration from ALC AW2020 Re-styled in partnership with Gumtree. With a focus on reusing, restyling and upscaling, we welcome a shift away from fast fashion. Accentuating the BUZZART22 ALC range, we are thrilled to feature an installation of one or two avant-garde looks from recent ALC runway collections focused on repurposing stock that hasn’t found homes.

ROUND COLLECTION 2022
ROUND, founded by Durban architects Colleen and Paul Wygers, was conceptualised as a vehicle to explore a mutual passion for imagining, creating and producing crafted contemporary objects. BUZZART22 brings the launch of a range of cleverly designed and immaculately produced lamps. With colour combinations inspired by the iconic work of German-American artist Josef Albers, the self-supporting collection is 100% recyclable, packaged as a flatpack and easily assembled in 10 minutes with no screws or other fittings. The 150 T Cube table lamp will be exclusively available to purchase at BUZZART22.

CERAMICS BY NINDYA BUCKTOWAR
Nindya Bucktowar is a multi-disciplinary artist who experiments with clay and mixed media to create installations inspired by natural and urban landscapes. She is the director at NT Design Studio, NT Leather and Kalki Ceramics, currently running her own multi-disciplinary design practice and ceramic business. Shop her gorgeous collection of handthrown ceramic vessels at BUZZART22.

THE ZULU BEADWORK PROJECT
The Zulu Beadwork Project’s new range of earrings will be premiered at BUZZART22. A celebration of life and fun, they are created in collaboration with master beader, Pretty Gumede. Diana Von Furstenberg summed it up best, ‘Jewelry is like the perfect spice – it always compliments what’s already there.’ Shop the new range at BUZZART22!

INTRODUCING: THE KZNSA WORKSHOP TABLE
Bookings will be open soon for a range of family-friendly making workshops and fun creative activities at the KZNSA.

Suitable for ages 8 years plus, the line up includes:
– Beaded jewellery making with Durban favourite Hlengiwe Dube
– Build a beautiful working clock (hint – great gift idea!)
– Create and print your own original gift wrap designs at our customising station
– Paint the KZNSA wall! Mural painting workshop with local street art legends
– Bring along a garment in need of repair and learn the joy of visible mending, with sewing techniques taught on site

Bookings will be limited to 10 participants per session, and sessions can be purchased as gifts – details to follow!
