Kwanele.
It is enough.
A name usually given to the last born child of a family.
A name that usually denotes contentment and fulfilment, or being done – reaching the end.
Through the collecting and sharing of thoughts, lived experiences, feelings, hopes and fears, the gallery mezzanine space becomes a vessel – a communal space where burdens, individual or common, can be shared or left behind. The vessel becomes Kwanele.
Kwanele is a communal, interactive space where enough is shared – during a time where notions of community, interactivity and enough have changed to the point of becoming almost unrecognizable. Kwanele responds to this.
Kwanele invites us to have enough.
Kwanele invites us to share enough.
Kwanele invites us to leave enough behind
