Azola Krweqe is a cultural practitioner passionate about everyday Black stories and the complexities of Black life. Her work explores the layered identities Black women hold which are often restricted by white-supremacist, patriarchal systems. Inspired by Black intersectional feminist thinkers, she is committed to practices that challenge and dismantle these structures.

Within the contemporary African art scene, Azola advocates for art spaces that are grounded in local context, genuinely accessible, and designed to address the needs and realities of marginalised communities. Her work centres equity, pragmatism, and meaningful community engagement.

Azola holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Industrial Sociology and Social Development and a BA Honours in Curatorship, both from the University of Cape Town. She brings experience working independently and within institutional settings, giving her a nuanced understanding of how cultural systems function and how they can be transformed.
