Rohini Amratlal

Rohini Amratlal, born in 1998 in Durban, South Africa, is a contemporary artist and emerging curator. She creates tapestries, prints, sculptures, and installations, exploring themes of race, love, loss, identity, and memory in post-apartheid South Africa. Based in Durban, Rohini balances her artistic practice with part-time roles as an assistant lecturer at the Durban University of Technology and UNISA. She earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Art from DUT in 2021 and has interned with KZNSA for the “An Unfurling” exhibition. Her experience includes a four-month internship with Carol Brown at Curate A Space and participation in the Art Bank commissioning program. Rohini has exhibited in various group shows in Durban and Johannesburg, and curated the “Azilime Ziyetsheni” exhibition at BAG Factory art studios. In 2022, she received a merit award in the Sasol New Signatures Art Competition.
