A House is not a Home…
Date
Inspired by previous KZNSA exhibition sub-committee shows such as Know This Place?, and Everything’s for sale, ‘A tongue in cheek interpretation of consumerism’, this exhibition embraces the ironic reality of the financial difficulties faced by artists and cultural organisations nationally, as we host our spin on a closing down* SALE.
This exhibition invites past members, current members, and hopefully new members to join us in rekindling the spirit that has always defined our community. It is both an acknowledgment of the challenges we face and an affirmation of the enduring power of art and artists to sustain.
Without the artists, our gallery—our house—is not a home. Thus, "A House is not a Home… without its Art" becomes our rallying cry. This exhibition is an apology-esque party, a tribute to the creative force that binds us, and a call to reignite the flame that once kindled our collective passion.
We are not closing down; rather, we are opening up to new possibilities, new connections, and a renewed sense of purpose. Join us as we celebrate the artists who make our house a home, and who remind us that even in the face of adversity, the show must go on.
